Business Excellence Support Team (BEST) successfully completed a nationwide capacity-building project for the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) on Setting Up and Managing an Online Store.

The project formed part of SMEDA's initiative to strengthen the capabilities of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through focused, one-day training interventions. The broader initiative was designed to enhance SME managerial expertise, operational efficiency, technological awareness and business capabilities.

Under Package 2 – Setting Up and Managing an Online Store, the assignment comprised 18 one-day training programs delivered for SMEs across Pakistan. The project covered Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, with a targeted capacity of up to 450 beneficiaries.

The training project focused on developing participants' understanding of establishing and managing an online store and strengthening their ability to use digital channels for business. Each program consisted of six hours of structured training, excluding breaks, and adopted an interactive learning approach rather than relying solely on presentations.

Training delivery incorporated case studies, group exercises, experience and success-story sharing and other practical learning activities to make the capacity-building process more engaging and results oriented.

BEST's responsibilities included implementation of the approved training workplan, engagement of approved trainers, preparation and delivery of training sessions, venue arrangements, provision of approved training material and coordination of the operational requirements associated with conducting the programs.

A comprehensive documentation and reporting process accompanied the training activities. Project deliverables included training presentations and materials, attendance records, event photographs, participant feedback forms, pre- and post-training assessments and activity reports, providing documented evidence of implementation and participant engagement.

Through this project, BEST supported SMEDA's efforts to strengthen the digital business capabilities of Pakistani SMEs and help entrepreneurs develop greater awareness of opportunities associated with establishing and managing online sales channels.
